I am Kofe Babone.
As a student my geography teacher told me that in the desert there are such winds that can cover a standing person in sand for seconds. I didn’t believe him. However, growing up I couldn’t stop thinking about my teacher’s tales of the desert winds. So one day I decided to check up whether these tales were true. I left home without telling anyone. On foot I wondered the deserts of Nigeria, Chad, Niger and Algeria, crossed the Djanet mountain and finished my journey in Sabha.
And that journey changed everything for me.
Surviving on my own on that journey gave me immense strength to believe in myself and my dreams. I already knew that I can accomplish anything and of course I had to see for myself what the world was like outside Africa.
In 1989 I landed in Bulgaria, the beginning of the Democracy.
It was a unique experience. Life wasn’t very easy, but it was better than the desert. I started as a merchant, trading with clothes, shoes and even bras. But my passion was acting, which I have studied back in Ghana. In 2000 I met Vladi –Vargala, who welcomed me in his show. We worked together for many years, he helped a lot for my development and I stopped the trade. Through the years I have participated in numerous other TV show programs as well. In more recent years my acting career has evolved to participation in some local and foreign film productions.
As an artist I have many passions. My participation in various TV shows has led to the development of my musical career. I have a couple of duets with famous Bulgarian performers, as well as my own singles. In 2015 I have recorded my first solo album.
Supporting youth and talent
After I settled down in Bulgaria and embraced it as my new home, I wanted to show this new world full of opportunities to my people in Africa. As a big fan of football I decided to seek African football talents and help them grow and live a better life playing for European teams. That is how my career as a football intermediary started. Recognizing true talents and finding the best possible offers for every player became my specialty.
And this is who I am – a wild hearted, always evolving, always seeking something new, never stopping to explore the world and my talents. To you reading this I beg you, don’t ever let anyone or anything stop you from achieving your goals. The world is full of opportunities and they await YOU.
Sharing African riches with the world
Even though I left Ghana many years ago, my roots are strong and I keep coming back to them. As an artist and businessman I always tend to “sprinkle” some of Africa in my work. One of my latest projects is oriented towards sharing more knowledge about the cocoa plant and its numerous benefits and applications. Everybody knows cocoa and everybody loves eating chocolate, the most recognized product produced from it. Cocoa seeds, however, have much more to give to the world. Their benefits and use exceed that of many other natural products. Eating raw seeds is extremely beneficial for the human organism. Used in cosmetics they have excellent results in softening and renewing the skin.
My family has survived owing to the cocoa plant. Starting from just an acre of trees now we have a huge cocoa plantation. And I am currently starting to grow cocoa trees here in Bulgaria. I want to spread the cocoa around the world. And everyone who is interested can contact me.
